Virtual Faith

The Irreverent Spiritual Quest of Generation XBy Tom Beaudoin, Jossey-Bass Publishers, 1998, San Francisco

Tom Beaudoin explores the spirituality of a generation through its music, fashion, imagery and spiritual quests. Beaudoin’s background is a mixture of Catholic, Protestant and outsider. The book includes some great reviews of music videos from R.E.M. Nirvana, and Soundgarden.

Beaudoin takes us through a fascinating engagement with postmodern experiences of God in relation to institutions, experience, suffering, and ambiguity. Beaudoin’s material on humility and leadership I’d recommend for all pastors!
